Um acidente de viação ocorrido na noite de terça-feira na localidade de Atalaia provocou dois mortos e 14 feridos, dois dos quais estão em estado grave e devem ser encaminhados para o hospital Agostinho Neto.
O comandante regional da Polícia Nacional (PN), subintendente Herminio da Veiga, avançou que o acidente aconteceu por volta das 23:00, na localidade de Atalaia, mais precisamente em Monte Piorno – Achada Maurícia, envolvendo um hiace de Ponta Verde, zona norte do município de São Filipe, que transportava passageiros para uma festa de bandeira de São Pedro na localidade de Achada Maurícia.
Segundo o comandante regional da PN, a viatura “despistou e caiu numa ribanceira”, provocando inicialmente 14 feridos, sendo três graves e em estado crítico, tendo um deles, um jovem de Ponta Verde conhecido por Dany, falecido depois de ter sido transportado para o centro de saúde de Mosteiros.
A segunda vítima, uma mulher de 35 anos que se encontrava em estado crítico e apesar de ter sido reanimada algumas vezes, acabou por falecer esta manhã no serviço de urgência do hospital regional.
A directora do hospital regional São Francisco de Assis, Liziana Barros, que se encontra na ilha Brava em missão de serviço, disse à Inforpress que o acidente provocou 16 vítimas sendo que oito foram atendidas no centro de saúde de Mosteiros e outras encaminhadas para o serviço de urgência do hospital regional, observando que ocorreu um óbito no centro de saúde e outro no hospital regional.
Neste momento estão outros feridos no serviço de urgência e a equipa está a tentar estabilizá-los para ver a possibilidade de encaminhamento para o hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto, na Cidade da Praia.
O director clínico do hospital regional, Dionísio Semedo, deverá falar à imprensa sobre o acidente que provocou pelo menos dois mortos e três feridos em estado grave.
O condutor da viatura, que está a receber os cuidados médicos, será posteriormente apresentado ao tribunal, segundo o comandante regional da PN.
